Lying off the A22 between Lewes and Eastbourne, Chiddingly is near some of East Sussex’s finest countryside. It’s first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The site of various ironworks in the 1500s, the village once provided the inspiration for a Picasso painting. Today it features a couple of pubs and a Grade I-listed parish church with a 130-ft spire, plus a village hall and cricket green. The local school, Chiddingly Primary, has a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.
