On Friday 19th October a group of team members from across our branches and departments got together for a team building day, volunteering at Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare.

This amazing charity was started over 70 years ago by Miss Raymond-Hawkins as a small set up from her own home and has grown to today being one of the most diverse rescue centres in the UK with their site in Lewes covering 43 acres. This is an extremely popular and well know organisation that we feel extremely privileged to be able to work with.

The team headed to Lewes on Friday morning, well prepared with their wet weather clothes and wellies with the forecast not looking good, however the weather held out and they all had a great day. It was certainly not for the fainthearted as, as soon as they arrived, they headed out and were given tools and tasked with clearing a huge over grown area that the charity wanted to be able to put to better use. The team worked so hard and bonded, working together as a team and as a result they managed to achieve a huge amount.

As a reward for their hard work, they were treated to a private tour around the site to see the incredible work that goes on behind the scenes before enjoying some delicious goodies at the Raystede café.

Rob Viles, Sales Manager said “It was a pleasure to help our friends at Raystede and clear a large area for better use by the charity. We were well looked after and I know we’re all eager to see what they do with this new area of theirs!”

Our team had a wonderful day and came away really feeling like they had given something back to the community and had made a difference. Visitors are welcome at the centre and café and this is something we would certainly recommend for people of all ages!
