Tenants FAQ – COVID 19 Advice
Will you be open during the national lockdown?
Yes – We will remain open and working as usual but from behind closed doors. Our team remain fully committed and motivated and are available via telephone and email with viewing and market appraisals very much in place with a number of additional measure in place to protect everyone.
Can I view a property?
Yes subject to arranging this with the owner or current occupier and having a virtual viewing initially, and of course being in a position to proceed with an offer, in some circumstances our clients are asking for negotiations to take place prior to a physical viewing.
When carrying out a viewing what guidance must be adhered too?
Adherence to social distancing rules
Wearing PPE e.g. face coverings
Occupiers leaving the property during a viewing
Viewings should be limited to 15 minutes
No more than 2 households should be present, with the agent counting as one household.
As few people as possible should be at the property.
Will I have to bring my own personal protective equipment (PPE) on a viewing?
Yes, and this is a strict requirement. In order to maintain the safety of everyone concerned, all customers will be required to wear their own PPE during viewings, consisting of a face covering and gloves, and customers will also be expected to bring their own hand sanitiser. Our teams will not be providing PPE, in order to minimise the risk of transferring germs. Please also use your own hand sanitiser before entering a property on a viewing.
Will I be able to view a property if I don’t have a face covering, gloves and hand sanitiser?
Unfortunately you will not be permitted to view a property without wearing a face covering and gloves, and using hand sanitiser. This is to protect you, the current occupiers of a property, and our teams and in line with Government guidelines.
Do I need to continue paying rent during the pandemic?
Yes – Rent remains payable. There is no automatic suspension of rental payments during the crisis.
What if I cant afford to pay my rent?
If you are finding it difficult to pay your rent, it is so important that you speak to us, we are understanding of personal situations and you will not be the first or last person to finding these times difficult. We appreciate that it might be difficult to pick up the phone for so many reasons, so you can always consider dropping us an email to email@example.com
What if a repair is required during the national lockdown?
Government has confirmed that landlords are required to repair the property and undertake routine inspections as usual. Similarly, tenants are required to provide access to the property for this purpose subject to Government guidance around infection, shielding and self-isolating.
To ensure your safety and that of the contractor, they will call you directly to arrange access. Please advise them of any self-isolation or illness within the household. When providing access ensure that social distancing protocols are observed. If keys are transferred do so in a secure envelope ensuring they are sanitised before and after use.
