Teams of 8-15 people get together and fund raise in their local communities to support the work of Cancer Research UK. Then everyone comes together in an inspiring overnight celebration and commemoration that the whole community can be part of. On the day of the Relay, you can expect a celebratory mix of music, games, entertainment, food, fundraising and perhaps a few surprises! Whilst the event is in full swing, members of each team will take turns to walk around the track to show that cancer never sleeps.

There is so much to do in Alexandra Park, but it’s known best for it’s abundant wildlife! Why not grab some binoculars and the kids and go bird spotting! Kingfishers and Grey Wagtails can be seen all over the park, and rare migrant birds also regularly visit, including Night Heron and Little Bittern, plus the delightfully monikered Honey Buzzard and Ferruginous Duck! If that doesn’t grab your fancy, there’s an active boating lake, traditional bowls green, family friendly cafe, adventure playground, tennis courts, multi play area, formal flower and rose gardens, reservoirs for fishing (permit required) natural woodland and a cute miniature railway that'll be the gem of the trip for most kids.
