What? South Coast Challenge

Take on some of England's finest scenery as a Walk, Jog, or a Run! An Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, over the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the famous South Downs Way National Trail with stunning views over the sea to a Brighton mid-point. Devil's Dyke, welcome rest stops, a few ups & downs all lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an 100km amazing journey. You will get full support and hospitality all the way from the team – and with half and quarter distance options also – there's a challenge here for everyone!

 

What? Bexhill Bump and Baby Show

Where? All Saints Church Hall, All Saints Lane, Sidley, Bexhill

When? 24th August 2019

A collection of local businesses that have plenty to offer pregnant parents and new parents. First 50 families through the door get a free goodie bag, and you’re bound to find some little treasures for your little ones. A must event for any parents.

 

What? Bexhill 100MC Classic & Custom Car Show

Where? The Polegrove. Bexhill on Sea

When? 26th August 2019

Perfect for any car enthusiasts! Come along to this giant Car Show with 400-500 cars of every description including special pedal car section for children! You can even bring your own pedal car and maybe win a prize. There will be lots of trade stands and refreshments to get you through the day, as well as free Funfair Rides for children – Great day out for all the Family! All profits go to the 20-20-20 project.

 

What? Eastbourne Market Summer 2

Where? Grand Parade, East Sussex

When? 22nd August – 1st September 2019

Back on the iconic Grand Parade for 2019, this is the final of the ‘six of the best’ street markets on the South Coast with an exciting blend of international street cuisine, artisan grocery foods together with handmade, eco-friendly arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery, accessories, vintage, collectables and some very original ideas.

 

What? England’s Medieval Festival 2019

Where? Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex

When? 23rd – 26th August 2019

England's Medieval Festival is the most authentic, one-of-a-kind medieval themed festival in Great Britain, where you can immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, smells and spectacle of medieval times! There’s plenty of opportunity to join the fun with have-a-go jousting, archery and axe throwing; sword school; drum school; workshops for all ages, including chainmail, calligraphy, wood-weaving, blacksmith-forging and many other traditional arts and crafts.

 

What? A Celebration of Land and Sea 2019

Where? The Waterfront, Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne

When? 23rd – 26th August 2019

This year this FREE event boasts an all weather Entertainments Marquee and there is a brilliant live music line-up that starts on Friday evening with one of the UK's best David Bowie tribute acts. Apart from the great free entertainment all day, every day, there is also a magnificent car and boat show featuring a host of local dealers. Plus on-sea yacht racing and dinghy trials for all. A BBQ area and lots of great places to eat make sure that this event is fun for all the family. There will be a permanent art show with work from local artists, face-painting and glitter tattoos for the kids and lots of disco and open mike sessions.

 

What? Bexhill Art Society Summer Exhibition

Where? The Studio, De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill-on-Sea

When? 24th – 26th August 2019

A selection of pictures created by members of the Bexhill Art Society over the past year. There is a wide variety of styles and medias on show which will all be for sale at reasonable prices as well as a section specifically for small paintings. Greetings cards of some of the members' work and some unframed art are also on sale. Workshops are also held to provide the opportunity to paint with club members!

 

What? Beach scavenger hunt tracker packs

Where? Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters, East Dean

When? 21st – 23rd August and 27th – 29th August

Pick up your tracker pack and see what you can uncover on the beach. On your scavenger hunt you'll look for fossils, explore the high tide mark and create some wild art. They’ll give you information, tools and guidance at the start – then head out on the beach and see what treasures you can find. Activities are self-led so you can take as long as you need to participate. Organised by The National Trust.
