Currently there is no mandatory regulation for Estate Agents to join a governing body. However by being members of naea propertymark (national association of estate agents) our Clients have the peace of mind they are working with a professional agent who can give them up to date advice and guidance.

The association of residential letting agents (ARLA), now propertymark, is the UK’s foremost professional body for letting agents.

Tenancy Deposit Scheme – The Housing Act 2004 requires Landlords and Letting Agents to protect Tenant deposits on assured shorthold tenancies in a Government backed scheme. At Oakfield we use the TDS (Tenancy Deposit Scheme).

SAFEAgent is a mark denoting that Oakfield protect Landlord and Tenant monies through client money protection schemes. Whilst government changes will soon see this as a mandatory requirement for agents this is not yet the case.

ARMA – ARMA (The Association of Residential Managing Agents) was established in 1991 to bring together professionals involved in private residential block management to set high standards in residential block management. Click here to view a video all about ARMA.

IRPM – IRPM (The Institute of Residential Property Management) is a recognised provider of professional qualifications within the block management industry.

Your money is protected throughout the time that your agency is a member of the Propertymark Client Money Protection Scheme. If your agent leaves a scheme, they are required by law to notify you. All agents managing properties in England, Scotland or Wales are legally required to belong to a Government approved Client Money Protection scheme at all times and details of the scheme must be publicly available. If you discover at a later date that money has gone missing during the period of their membership of the scheme, you will still be covered even if the have subsequently left the scheme.
